I work with authors, researchers, university presses, and independent and trade publishers to prepare complex nonfiction manuscripts for publication. My work focuses primarily on book-length projects, including scholarly monographs, interdisciplinary research, and trade nonfiction.
My editing focuses on sentence-level clarity, consistency, and correctness while preserving the author’s voice and intent. I regularly edit references, notes, bibliographies, and other manuscript elements, and I'm proficient at working with complex argument-driven material.
My background as a professor and researcher informs my editorial approach. With a PhD in philosophy and extensive experience working with scholarly writing, I understand how arguments are built, how disciplinary conventions differ, and how to improve complex prose without oversimplifying it.
I work primarily with Chicago style, including notes and bibliographies, and also have experience with APA and other major style guides.
