Approach & Experience
Good editing strengthens clarity, structure, consistency, and readability while preserving the distinctive voice of a manuscript. I work with university, independent, and trade publishers, as well as nonfiction authors, on scholarly and trade nonfiction projects.
My work focuses particularly on long-form nonfiction, including philosophy and the humanities, history and philosophy of science, memoir and biography, cultural criticism, educational publishing, and scholarly and interdisciplinary writing. I regularly edit book-length manuscripts requiring close attention to style, argumentation, references, structure, and tone.
Editorial Approach
I approach editing as a collaborative process. My goal is not to flatten or standardize a manuscript, but to help authors communicate ideas more clearly, coherently, and effectively.
Depending on the project, this may involve:
